After finally getting a W in some streetball…
and after arguing with my friends about the sad state of hip-hop right now, we end up talking about God.
I always love these conversations because I really get to see what people really are and get a chance to clear the fog and remove some wool from their eyes while I’m there. I’ve heard so many aethisic and agnostic arguments, but what they don’t get is that this is not an ideal or a human construct… this is God
A God with rules.
But how can I get them to where I am if they have no faith?
So I felt led to write about How to Have Faith..you don’t have to be TD jakes to have it… and to tell you something else, everyone already has it (Romans 12:3) However, there are some people that will just never get it (2 Chr 28), but this ain’t their part of the show right now.
No… this is for the people with genuine questions and hearts, people that have faith… and the struggles that come along with it. But let’s start with the seekers.
The fight FOR faith is one that is overcome by a few things. The first is God himself. When he spoke to Abraham and established the first covenant with man and made the jews, the scriptures say that swore by no higher thing…he swore by himself (Heb 6:13) Thus making faith independent of human error or thinking. FAITH, by a theological standpoint. is GIVEN by God to people called to his purpose.
Pastor said it like this, “Our faith is based on God’s faithfulness”… and I’ve known this to be a FAITHful saying 😉
“He that cometh to God must believe that he is and he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” right? (HEB11:1) So, understanding that the faith you have is contingent upon God’s giving, and that the only thing stopping you from pleasing him is believing that he is real, you can overcome that hurdle with a DECISION. Older saints will tell you. A lot of miracles that have taken place in their lives was due to a decision they had made, mainly concerning doing more for God.
When you decide, JESUS ARRIVES!
On the other hand, perhaps you’ve got faith… and God’s been dealing with you, talking and walking with you. And you’ll know it because your praise to Jesus will be THAT much stronger… stronger than lies, stronger than depression, stronger than selfishness. You’ll have a praise that will DELIVER YOU! Ask Paul and Silas in ACTS 16!
The question is, why must you be delivered? Why must you still battle depressing moments, evil people and thoughts, and your fleshly ways? The answer is that “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph 6:12). When we receive the Holy Ghost BY FAITH, (For by grace ye are saved through faith Eph.2:8), flesh and spirit contend for the mind!
THE SOLUTION: Is that Jesus wins!
The fight FOR faith eventually becomes that good fight OF faith. (1 Tim 6:12)
SEEKERS… KEEP OOOOON SEEKIIING… BELIEVERRRRRS…. KEEP ON BEEEELIEVIIIINNNNNNNNNG! (I know that ain’t how it goes but…)
“In this world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33)
aaaaaaaaaaaaand “Greater than he that is within you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4)
So yorr faith is locked into God’s hand. You don’t have to worry about your world crumbling down, or doubt. God is most definitely real…
and he will teach you how to have faith. *plays higher ground and walks off into the distance
